INDUSTRY STANDARDS

Do you think we need standards for the South African Film Industry?

Please check this:

SKILLSET

Skillset is the UK industry body which supports skills and training for people and businesses to ensure the UK creative media industries maintain their world class position.

If you're working in one of these industries, they have advice and resources to help you take your career to the next level.

And if you're just starting out, you'll find information on all the different jobs out there to help you decide which one is right for you.

  1. SOUTH AFRICA ABOUT TO SIGN AGREEMENT TO IMPLEMENT SKILLSET STANDARDS

In a telephone call with Judy Robison, I learned that South Africa is about to sign an agreement with SkillSet for our (South African) use of their motion picture standards in a collaborative way. This is a dream come true for me as I have been trying for the past 12 years to nurture this achievement. Well done to those involved - especially those I coerced to achieve this.

Kate O'Connor (Executive Director of SkillSet)says: "We are keen to establish strategic partnerships with equivalent bodies to us..." (Call Sheet October 2009).

While I recognise that the motion picture industries in South Africa and UK are hardly comparable, we need to start somewhere and SkillSet is ideal. It is only from a sold foundation that we can grow our industry.
